Gunfire Games is an independent US development studio formed by David Adams, previously CEO at Crytek USA Corp. for 18 months, and another group of lead developers from that company. It is based in Texas. Following the team's downscaling at Crytek USA reported at the end of July 2014, the action game HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age the team was working on and only announced a month before, was moved to the Crytek Frankfurt studio and the USA studio's activities were limited to managing sales of CryEngine licenses. Adams resigned the same day.
The group around Adams goes back to Vigil Games, the Austin, Texas studio he co-founded in 2005 responsible for the Darksiders games until it was closed following publisher THQ's bankruptcy in December 2012. The studio now considers working on new IP, but has also approached Nordic Games that holds the Darksiders licence to make a third game.
